The COPPER LODGE mural

Portlaw's new mural, depicting the once famous Copper Lodge,
which stood at the entrance to Millfort house.

The artist was Shane Sutton from Chapelizod, Dublin.

Sponsored by Portlaw Task Force, the mural can be seen at Queen Street.

NATIONAL COFFEE MORNING 2018

T'was that time of year once more
on October 20th,
and staunch supporters of the
HOSPICE MOVEMENT
rallied around all over the country to raise funds for same.
assisted along the way by BEWLEYS,
who have been supporting the event for the past twenty-five years,
raising over €35,000,000.

                                                                                                                                                        Peggy Cuddihy,
a loyal volunteer for years at many local functions,
one of the first to arrive and prepare for the day.

Bernadette Wade,
one of the early supporters
to turn up.

Biddy Hanlon,
an equally loyal volunteer
on the day,
noted for her work at a number of
annual fund-raising functions.

Somewhat shy about having her photo taken was
Chrissie Power,
seen here with grand-daughter, Naomi,
among the earliest arrivals.

Joan Walsh,
another early-bird,
probably Portlaw's greatest walker!

HARLEY'S CAFÉ/BISTRO

                                                                                                                                                            Now over twelve months established,
HARLEY'S CAFÉ/BISTRO
at The Bridge, Portlaw,
has already made a reputation for itself
as a  purveyor of good food at sensible prices,
which its very many regular customers will agree to.

Dropping in unexpectedly recently,
I met these two young local ladies about to place an order.

This staff member was busy dispensing ice cream,

. . . and these young children were enjoying some more,

                                                                                                                                                            . . . while others were having a tasty-looking lunch.

Further text to follow.
