The evolution of a simple image to something very different!

Tyre tracks outside our front door on January 25th had possibilities, I thought!
I was thinking of stained glass!  The whites and blacks were adjusted, also the contrast and sharpness, then some colours added.
I then began to think of the many colourful Clarke windows I had photographed over the years, and adjusted the blacks further, plus added red.
The reds were then saturated more; blue was added to some areas, after which I decided to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise.
Not having the ability to add biblical or other figures, I felt some appropriate text would suffice, and picked on an excerpt from the Psalms to do with music.  It may not look liked stained glass, but I myself was pleased with the result!!!

LOCAL VOLUNTEERS!

For the two thousandth photo on this website,  I needed something special. I thought about it for days and eventually decided to publicise some local volunteers. The ones which came to mind were local ladies, Biddy Hanlin and Peggy Cuddihy, shown above.  For very many years they have served the community outstandingly well in both the St. Vincent Paul Centre, The Vincent's shop attached to it, the annual Coffee Morning in aid of the Hospice Movement, St. Patrick's Church, and possibly more that I am not aware of.

Heartiest Congratulations and Long Life to them both!

A LOOK BACK .. .

A LOOK BACK AT THE SNOW SITUATION IN 2010:

Before looking out at today's snowfall (24th January 2021), I had a look back at the situation in 2010 for comparison.  My car failed to travel up the steep hill, due to icy road that day on heading for home, and I had to proceed via Whitestown lodge and the Clonea-Power road instead!

More Trees in Winter!

I heard it described as 'The Hessian Gap' in the past!
I haven't come across any account of Hessian soldiers operating in the Portlaw
area during the 1798 Rebellion, but there is much information about them online,
wherein you may find a link!
My own description, 'Hushing Gap', comes from a discussion with the late 'Doc' Morrissey.

Polo Field Roller!

Was looking at this view for months.  Eventually photographed it on Jan. 10th,                                    when light was better.  Modified somewhat.
